New progression to Chemistry postgraduate degrees at the University of Aberdeen International Study Centre

We are pleased to announce the addition of two new progression degrees at the University of Aberdeen International Study Centre (ISC) from the Pre-Masters Programme in Science and Engineering.

Students undertaking this pathway at the ISC will now have the option of progressing to the below Chemistry related Masters’ degrees:

  • Analytical Chemistry MSc
  • Industrial Pharmaceutical Chemistry MSc

Students who wish to progress on to the above degrees will study two new Chemistry-focused modules during their pathway programme:

  • Laboratory Skills and Scientific Communication – This module focuses on health and safety in the lab, undertaking theoretical and practical work in a laboratory, as well as producing research reports and posters.
  • Research Methods in Chemistry – This module introduces students the scientific method, qualitative and quantitative research, the variables within research, sampling, as well as how to present their findings.

Why study Chemistry at University of Aberdeen?

  • Chemistry has been taught at Aberdeen for over 200 years and we were one of the first universities to introduce chemistry as a subject in its own right.
  • 80% of Chemistry research at Aberdeen was rated as ‘world leading’ or ‘internationally excellent’ in the Research Excellence Framework 2014.
  • Chemistry is ranking in the Top 20 in the UK by The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2021
  • Students can benefit from excellent Chemistry facilities – including a unique collection of instruments for environmental analysis and speciation, and 300, 400 and 600 MHz nuclear magnetic resonance equipment.
