Joe Biden prioritizes educators in his drive to vaccinate all US adults

Joe Biden is instructing US states to prioritize vaccinating all educators by the end of March. The focus on challenging states to administer at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine to teachers this month is part of the government’s strategy to reopen more schools and educational establishments across the US.

Furthermore, the Biden Administration has confirmed that America is on track to have enough vaccines for all adults in the country by the end of May, two months earlier than anticipated.

Commenting on this announcement, Joshua Rubin, Study Group’s Executive Vice-President for Higher Education in North America said:

“As an organization that believes in building a better world through education, Study Group welcomes Joe Biden’s move to accelerate the COVID-19 immunization program in America, and drive to vaccinate all teachers by the end of this month as a priority. This is a positive sign that the US Government views the role of education in society as fundamental and crucial to the continued and future success of the country.

With more than 15% of the country’s population having received vaccine doses already, it is clear that the Biden administration is working hard to ensure the safety and wellbeing of citizens in the US. Moreover, it is evident that the US is looking beyond its borders to tackle the pandemic on a global scale, with President Biden’s recent $4 billion USD pledge toward vaccine distribution in countries outside of the US, through the COVAX initiative, making America and the world a safer place for all.”

Study Group is a leading international education organization that collaborates with higher education institutions around the world to provide pathway programs, which enable students to access global higher education opportunities. Prachi Patel, a Study Group US Pathway Program student, shares her view on why in the current climate, America is an appealing place for international students to pursue tertiary-level education:

“I chose the USA for my further studies because I think I am getting the best opportunities by studying here. I am surrounded by a positive learning environment and encouragement, which helped me in my progress. My study experience in the USA has been amazing.”

Joshua Rubin adds:

“The good news about the rapid rollout of the vaccine and outward-looking approach to addressing the global health crisis follows President Biden’s US Citizenship Act of 2021, which has been introduced in Congress and seeks to reverse Trump’s tight immigration policies.

These initiatives combined indicate a progressive administration, and we look forward to welcoming a diverse cohort of international students from around the world to the US this fall.”
