DePaul University’s Loop Campus is located in the heart of Chicago’s business district. This location gives students easy access to internships and careers at some of the largest companies in the world, and the university provides students with the resources and tools for success at those companies.
“I enjoyed the practical aspects of DePaul education the most — especially in my business courses. Almost every one of them was filled with guest speakers, group projects and presentations, and opportunities to build hands-on experiences,” said Dong Hyun (Paul) from South Korea, who graduated with his Bachelor of Science in Business (BSB) degree in Marketing. “During my time at DePaul, my favorite class was the Marketing Honors program; in this year-long cohort program, I got to work on market research and brand consulting group projects for reputable companies.”
One of the key benefits of attending DePaul is the company connections that university students enjoy. For example, KPMG, one of the accounting industry’s Big 4 companies, has a dedicated recruiter at DePaul. Also, KPMG speakers attend classes and meet with student accounting groups to discuss the different divisions within the corporation, what each does, and what kinds of employees KPMG needs. Students can attend presentations about KPMG’s corporate culture as well as the benefits offered by this Big 4 firm. Read more about KPMG’s presence at DePaul.
DePaul’s business programs produce employable graduates. Within six months of graduation, 91% of students from Driehaus College of Business and 93% of Kellstadt Graduate School of Business students are employed, continuing education or pursuing other goals. DePaul students go on to work at companies like 3M, Deloitte, Discover Financial Services, IBM, KPMG, Marriott International, McDonald’s Corporation, and Salesforce, among many others.
Manuela, a DePaul graduate from Colombia, said, “The business program at DePaul prepared me for the real world. All the classes that I took helped me to develop great skills that I can easily apply to my work.” Internships are encouraged, as 69% of DePaul’s undergraduate business students complete an internship by the time they graduate.
Before graduation, they have access to companies and leaders in the vast Chicago business community. Maya, who is from Thailand, is currently studying for her Master of Science (MS) in Marketing degree after completing the Global Gateway Program in 2020. She sought help from the Kellstadt Career Management Center at DePaul, and with that assistance, she connected with Netflix. Maya explained, “She made my dream come true when she invited me to join the industry night event with DePaul alumni marketing professionals which I met Sophia from Netflix. It was a wonderful event that I have been waiting for all of my life. I had a chance to talk with a marketing professional who is working in my dream company.
