The University of Hartford has announced the launch of its newest undergraduate degree program: a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering. The only degree of its kind in the U.S. state of Connecticut, the Aerospace Engineering BS degree is available for students enrolling in the International Pathway Program (IPP) or by direct admission, beginning Fall 2021.
The Aerospace Engineering program is a STEM-designated degree within the university’s College of Engineering, Technology, and Architecture (CETA). Students will learn about different types of aerospace products and build their knowledge of technical concepts relevant to aerospace and design. Furthermore, they will benefit from the University of Hartford’s corporate partnerships at organizations like Pratt & Whitney and NASA.
Aerospace Engineering students will study in classrooms and laboratories housed in the Hursey Center, the university’s new state-of-the-art academic building, which is opening in Fall 2021. Students will utilize equipment and facilities that include wind tunnels, materials and structures testing equipment, controls instrumentation, and thermos/fluids experimental setups.
Additionally, Aerospace Engineering students will benefit from the University of Hartford’s location, which is known as “Aerospace Alley” because of its position as a pioneer and a global leader in aerospace. Industry worker productivity in Connecticut is No. 3 in the U.S. This means that students have an opportunity to follow a career path locally and take advantage of internship and job opportunities near the university.
