The Health Innovation One (HIO) building at Lancaster University has achieved a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating for sustainability in its design and construction.
BREEAM is the world leading sustainability assessment method for buildings and infrastructure, by assessing a buildings environmental, social and economics sustainability performance.
Completed in June 2020, the building has since been used by the National Health Service to deliver COVID-19 vaccinations to the local community as well as becoming home to the Faculty of Health and Medicine at the university.
International Study Centre students studying on the Life Sciences International Foundation Year or the Engineering, Computing, Mathematics and Science Pre-Masters programmes and looking to progress to a degree related to Health and Medicine can expect to make use of the new buildings facilities upon progression.
